Pixel Soundscape

Here is my audio for Pixel Soundscape that I created using Adobe Audition. I wanted to make a relaxing and peaceful sound, so I used nature sounds.
This is my mood board for my animation, I wanted to showcase nature with warm colours.
Here are the notes I made on how my animation could go to match my audio.
Here is my first animatic that I created with only images in order to get an idea of what I could create and to work out the timings of my different scenes.
Here is my final animatic where I created a draft of what I planned to do for my paper cut out stop motion in my animation.
This is the background I created for the first scene of my stop motion, this is for the scene with a hand running through long grass. I used gouache paint on paper for all of my backgrounds.
Here’s my second background for my stop motion. This is for the scene of the little girl picking a flower. I’ve used a lot of green colours for my backgrounds to really create a warm feeling to them as I wanted to make them as scenic and calming as I could.
This is my third background, I made it for the scenes of the bells ringing and hanging on the tree.
My fourth background is for the scene of the sun beams shining through the tree.
This is the background for the last scene of my stop motion. It’s for the scene of the little girl laying on the grass and slowing falling asleep.
These are the different elements of my stop motion, I made the grass, hand, little girl, flower and bells out of coloured card paper. The sun beams are made from yellow and gold coloured translucent paper. I wanted to keep the style of my cut-outs very minimalistic and simple. In my last scene of my stop motion the girl closes and opens her eyes, so I created a face for each of the stages of her closing her eyes so that when I was making the stop motion I could simply swap out the face to get the effect I wanted.
Here’s a picture of what it looked like when I shot my stop motion using Dragonframe.
Here’s the result of my paper cut-out stop motion before I edited it with my sound and pixilation scenes.
Here’s my first pixilation scene that’s at the beginning of my animation. I shot it in Hyde Park and used my friend as the model. As I added in the sound of footsteps at the beginning of my audio, I came up with the idea of this scene being of a person running.
This pixilation is the last scene of my animation. This scene is meant to showcase the character of my animation being sucked out of their memory (the stop motion) and being back in reality. I wanted to portray the idea of her looking wistfully into the distance.
Here’s a picture of Adobe After Effects when I was in the post production stage and editing the audio, pixilation and stop motion scenes of my animation together.
The final animation.
